Mayo Clinic provides inpatient and outpatient specialty care to children with highly complex medical and surgical problems through a comprehensive, growing, multi-specialty practice at the Mayo Clinic Children’s Center. This position will assist the providers by helping to measure and report the quality metrics necessary to achieve and maintain recognition for high quality care that makes Mayo Clinic Children’s Center competitive in the pediatric market. Understanding quality measures and maintenance of a program for continuous quality improvement are important commitments we make to our patients. This requires active engagement with data mining, improvement projects, survey completions, and certification compliance with Pediatric American College of Surgery Certification, US News and World Report, Child Health Patient Safety Organizations, Children’s Hospitals Solutions for Patient Safety, etc. This position will report to Mayo Clinic Quality Management Services, but directly support the Mayo Clinic Children’s Center.
Application of clinical knowledge and experience to develop and support the infrastructure necessary for Quality Management Services activities within Mayo Clinic Rochester. The RN Quality Specialist supports the medical center in analyzing current practice patterns, identifying areas for improvement and developing methods to help implement and evaluate improvement changes. The RN Quality Specialist serves as a resource and provides system support to department/divisions and institutional staff in the areas of practice analysis and improvement. The RN Quality Specialist provides facilitation, data collection and reporting of quality improvement activities. The Specialist serves as a resource for education and training regarding quality improvement, accreditation standards, internal process improvements, and external regulatory requirements (i.e. JCAHO, CMS, ICSI, etc.)
Current Minnesota RN license with a baccalaureate degree in nursing required. Masters preparation and/or advanced course work beneficial. Minimum of 5 years clinical experience. Must be willing to obtain advanced training and/or certification as the quality improvement environment requires. Ambulatory care experience helpful. Demonstrated leadership qualities with exceptional oral and written communication skills required. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently without close supervision. Must also possess the ability to work well with others in a creative and challenging work environment. Current driver’s license essential as routine travel will be required within the region or to external meetings. Knowledge of the Mayo Health System is beneficial. Basic computer knowledge and skills required. Knowledge and experience with continuous improvement concepts required.
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $2469.60, based on a full-time position.
