Job Description

The Marketing Director for our Robinson FreshDivision is accountable for the overall marketing strategy for C.H. Robinson’s fresh products and complex supply chain services division. In this role, you will proactively work alongside Robinson Fresh division leadership to determine priorities and direct marketing resources across functions to bring them to life. You will also lead the Robinson Fresh marketing account management team as well as serve as a liaison between Robinson Fresh and the fresh fruit and vegetable industry. This is a key leadership position focused on identifying, analyzing and implementing business opportunities in key market segments. The role is both internally focused on inter-departmental product development and marketing and sales initiatives and externally focused on developing and maintaining relationships with key industry leaders, and alliance partners.


Responsibilities:

    • Develop and execute annual Robinson Fresh marketing plan to drive awareness and growth for the customer and supplier /service provider audiences.

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with Robinson Fresh leadership to determine priorities and drive clarity through marketing value for client satisfaction.

    • Evaluate and recommend RF marketing strategies for customers, suppliers/service providers and consumers in collaboration with key stakeholders.

    • Oversee implementation of the RF marketing strategy including brand strategy, key messaging development, content creation, and product and service line marketing.

    • Lead strategy for investments in key channels of events, email, sales campaigns, and advertising with measurable sales impact.

    • Advise RF leadership and play a leadership role in determining how to leverage marketing resources to solve challenges and drive growth based on their key initiatives.

    • Create and manage the RF marketing budget.

    • Engage enterprise marketing resources across all functions to build value in alignment with divisional goals and priorities.

    • Manage, motivate and resource the RF marketing account management team to deliver high quality services to customers and achieve division goals.

    • Prepare executive reporting, including ROI analysis and recommendations based on key findings.

    • Proactively lead the development of new product concepts, their commercialization and eventual rollout.

    • Create intuitive customer and consumer interactive sites, tools, products and services to drive deeper engagement and further penetration of wallet share.

    • Lead the brand strategy and management of the portfolio of owned and licensed brands for the division.This includes managing 5 existing licensed consumer brands relationships.

    • Lead Robinson Fresh’s industry relationships management and event participation.

    • Work with business and finance analytical teams to assess growth opportunities and markets, develops growth strategies and works with staff to implement these strategies, to advance the regions, products and services. Provides ongoing analyses, both market and financial, of potential business opportunities.

    • Drive and maintain industry presence and serves as one of Robinson Fresh’s industry/public relations liaison’s by giving presentations, creating alliances, identifying and establishing key contacts, and organizing strategic councils as needed. Supports institutional relationships with key partner organizations and audiences.

    • Manage design partners and packaging management firms to develop new and update packaging for all Robinson Fresh Division products.

    • As a member of the Leadership Team, identify specific measurable department goals that advance the Robinson Fresh Division’s mission and vision.

    • Cultivate a high performing team by building skills through coaching, mentoring and ongoing training and development.

    • Select, develop, and evaluate team members to ensure the effectiveness and alignment with current and future goals and initiatives.

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required

    • Master’s degree preferred

    • Minimum 10 years’ progressive marketing experience required

    • B2B and brand management experience preferred

    • Consumer food marketing and/or fresh perishables experience strongly preferred.

    • Transportation, supply chain, logistics experience preferred

    • Proven success building and executing commercial marketing strategies that bring significant value and results to the business

    • Demonstrated track record of developing and implementing marketing and sales strategies that have consistently met or exceeded planned objectives

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and professional executive presence

    • Ability to align stakeholders with unique and/or differing perspectives

    • Proven ability to lead, facilitate, influence, and organize across groups and at multiple levels of the organization

    • Proven experience developing and cultivating strong working relationships and credibility with stakeholders at multiple levels and competing priorities

    • Organizational savvy with proven ability to drive results in a cross-functional, matrixed organization without direct authority.

    • Critical thinking ability; independently and proactively identify problems, propose solutions and execute

    • Organized with strong self and project management disciplines

    • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills as a team player who will work internally and externally to achieve company goals.

    • Strong financial skills; experience owning and managing a budget

    • Analytical skills to capture sales and profit impact versus the costs of marketing activities

    • Ability to travel up to 35%
