Job Description

Job Overview:
Responsible for leading the sales department, for revenue production at the hotel, and meeting or exceeding planned revenue objectives for occupancy and average daily rate (ADR). Manages all areas of sales according to brand standards to achieve a professional reputation within the community. The Director of Sales is actively involving in securing, qualifying and following up on leads to book specific business. Their central focus is in sales and the development of the sales team, if applicable. This position works closely with the hotel’s preferred accounts and group reservations

Supervisor Title: General Manager

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of sales and marketing strategies 
  • Develop of Marketing Plan by compiling and analyzing historical data and competitors  Create Action Plans 
  • Identify and obtain accounts from competition 
  • Solicit new and saturate existing business through a combination of in-house appointments, telephone, and personal calls 
  • Maintain close relations with major accounts, tourism, and business associations to ensure repeat business 
  • Qualify and greet in-house guests on a scheduled basis 
  • Work closely with the General Manager, Front Office Manager, and Front Desk Representatives to ensure selling strategies are understood and adhered to for revenue maximization 
  • Analyzes and understands the competition’s strengths and weaknesses for each market segment and successfully direct marketing activities against each

Additional Responsibilities: Any other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • High ethical standards, analytical ability, and excellent communicator—written & verbal  Computer literate 
  • Background in the hospitality industry 
  • Exceedingly organized and efficient with the ability to multitask 
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment 
  • Provide excellent customer service 
  • Attend all trainings/meeting as required by management 
  • Outgoing personality and great people skills 
  • Attention to detail & organization 

  • Travel by car to training sessions, clients, competitor hotels, area meetings, etc.
  • Must be able to work well in stressful, high pressure situations including the ability to handle guest complaints and disputes and resolve them to satisfactory results 
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns and issues raised by associates and guests 
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, as well as arithmetic functions 
  • Will be required to work weekends and holidays

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as well as talk and hear. Also, as there is much travel involved, there will be long periods of being seated. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must be able to see differences in widths and lengths of lines, such as those on graphs.
